"Works well, just two issues. One was that there was a bad wire when it came out of the box, and it took a month to get it fixed. Small problem, slow resolution....they kept telling me it was a problem with the sensor, even though the tech that came to my house diagnosed it correctly. After sending the wrong parts twice, they finally sent the simple wire the tech asked for, and that fixed it. The second is that the two controllable features - itensity and control - are switched. Intensity is on the right side of the display, but the controls for intensity are on the left. Motion is the opposite - controls on the right, but on the left side of the display. Not a huge deal, but makes no sense. Other than that, the unit works well, and I'm glad I bought it. Feels solid, no further problems. The Ipod speakers are pretty tinny, so don't buy it for the music. Buy it for the workout."

"Our entire family runs and we debated between a treadmill and an elliptical. Our knees made the decision and we went with the smooth agile DMT elliptical...the best decision we've made. It meets all of our family's needs from our teen sons who are nearing 6 feet to me who is only 5'3. We are glad we chose the DMT because the extra 200 pounds of the equipment makes it feel gym quality. We got it delivered and fully assembled. The downside is that we had to wait a few weeks to schedule the delivery. Although we had one small issue (squeaking), we called and a repair person was sent out within 3 days. We love the ellipitcal and each of us use it for different workouts (fat burning, vs. conditioning vs. strength) The only thing missing is a way for each of us to save our personal info (e.g. age weight etc) vs. inputting each time. Highly recommend the DMT!"

One year update - warranty

"I bought my DMT in December 2008 when the price was $3,000. Upon assembly I realized that the base frame came bent at the left upright. I bent it back, or so I thought and finished the assembly. Everything was great, or so I thought. At about 6 months, I began noticing a continuous noise from the front left side, and not long after that there was excessive play in the pedal / swing arm joint. Eventually, the misalignment of the front parts caused bearing failure, and my DMT was unusable. I was so bummed! I called Smooth and explained the symptoms that I was experiencing, and they seemed puzzled, but they acted right away to send a lot of replacement parts to me and dispatch a repair technician. I'm back up and ellipting, and I couldn't be more pleased with this company. So to anyone considering purchasing the DMT you can rest assured knowing that your investment is safe while under warranty. I love my DMT and hope to have it for many years to come."

"I had read about it in other reviews, and experienced the exact same...there is a lot of plastic on this machine and several pieces came broken in the shipping. A little epoxy fixed them, so I didn't even bother contacting customer support. Just cosmetic pieces, but even so. The shipping process was a whole other story. What a joke the shippers were. 7-10 days? I don't think so. The machine was delivered to the shippers within 3 days, and there it sat. One box was torn open, beat up. They had already conveniently filled out my "shipper satisfaction" form for me with all perfect! I am lucky it was just the plastic pieces damaged. As far as the machine goes, I am pretty happy. The programs are pretty basic. One thing that is really a thorn is having to enter your age and weight (one year/pound at a time) every time you start. The machine is very smooth and well built. I have used a Lifefitness in the past, and while the structural parts may be a bit heavier duty, the bearings and wear parts are about the same. What kills these machines is sweat, rusting everything. The plastic pieces do cover much of the critical pieces well, but there are some open spots for sweat to get in and cause havoc. We will see in a couple years. The Lifefitness plastic shrouds were useless, bearings rusted out and then the structural parts took the wear. It looks like this design will be better than that. "
